Eight Mavericks, eight Heart Tanks, four Energy Sub-Tanks and four armor parts. This guide covers the SNES original and its standard Legacy Collection release; Maverick Hunter X and the old DOS version differ.

Storm Eagle provides the helmet and Storm Tornado; then collect the Buster upgrade, Heart Tank and Sub-Tank in Flame Mammoth’s stage. Follow the weakness chain from there. You can collect the Body Parts in Sting Chameleon’s stage earlier once you have the dash. Return for missing hearts and tanks, then tackle the optional Hadouken and Sigma Fortress.

The original game and standard Legacy Collection mode. The eight Heart Tanks permanently increase only the collecting character's maximum health. Tanks and boss weapons are shared. Falcon and Gaea Armor become usable only after collecting all four capsules in each set. X5 boss names vary: Legacy Collection names are followed by the earlier Western names in parentheses.

Start as X to keep Fourth Armor. Zero receives the Z-Buster only if you start as Zero. The first four bosses provide Enigma components; if the shot fails, the remaining four provide shuttle components. Each new stage entry costs one hour. Save separately before firing Enigma or launching the shuttle: even all components do not guarantee success. Failure or the time limit can make Zero unplayable. Plan your collectible return visits around this. Power-up parts require boss level 8 or higher: choose either Life+ or Energy+, not both. You can obtain at most eight of the sixteen variants per save, and development takes additional stage completions.
